Fixation system by IHC Fabrication

IHC Fabrication has built, tested and delivered a set of the series CJ70 fixation systems. The fixation system is necessary to absorb the vertical forces and the deflective moments of the pile from the platform by means of two fixed tooth clamp systems.

For the CJ 70 that means a gripping force of up to 5500 ton per system. The hoisting platform is designed to operate at windforce 12 in a water depth of maximum 150 metres and resist waves of up to 24 metres.

This particular project contains all key disciplines of IHC Fabrication. See an impression of the prediction phases:

Phase 1: Work preparation

Production engineering and design drawings of the customer are checked in the projects office and the production work preparation for design optimization, improvements, and the feasibility of production. Knowledge about form/place tolerances are adapted in the won production drawings.

Phase 2: Assembling and welding

Welding and assembling of the gearboxes and the mounting supports of the fixation systems.

Phase 3: Metal removing

IHC Fabrication is specialized in the metal removing of high-quality steel grades for amongst others the offshore industry. The bigger parts of the fixation system have been machined in-house. All parts are uniquely identified to enable traceability.

Phase 4: Quality control

3D quality control is necessary to meet the customer specific requirements. Modern measuring equipment (3D-theodolite) is used under survey of the quality inspection. New investments in equipment make inspections easier and more reliable.

Phase 5: Preservation

Four special layers of shorepainting (specified by the customer) were adapted internally and with associated checks and painting records.

Phase 6: Assemble

After a complete check of the separately produced parts, the parts were built up in the own assembly hall.

Phase 7: Testing

With the customer and the customer’s customer present the systems are checked dryly. All 18 systems that have to be delivered are being tested. Setback during installation on the shipyard have to be avoided, therefore 100% quality assurance.

Phase 8: Transport

Packing and transport of the systems is done by IHC Fabrication herself. Transport to the place of final destination is contracted out.
